Stephen Roberts is Owner of Guidance Professional Services Inc. (GPS), a brain health directed counselling office located in Red Deer. Guidance Professional Services Inc. practices up-to-date brain health therapies. GPS offers outpatient programs for addictions, trauma, depression, and anxiety and collaborative services with community partners such as fitness, yoga, acupuncture, art therapy and equine. Some conditions we are known for include trauma, anxiety, depression, and sports performance.
Stephen is extremely passionate about the brain and neurophysiology and how it impacts our daily lives. He has been on a learning and healing journey for a few years looking for the best brain-body therapies to help his patients heal deeply and completely. Stephen uses therapies, such as Brainspotting to access the deeper primitive parts of the brain to help patients process and release experiences and symptoms held in the brain and body. Other neuroscience components include Neurofeedback, the Safe and Sound Protocol, Heart Rate Variability Training, MATES Brain Regulation Program, and other nervous system techniques that are critical for helping patients move from state to state efficiently and effectively.
Stephen graduated from Yorkville University with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology in April 2014 and has been Certified in Brainspotting since November 2016. It is important for therapies today to address the underlying physiology and maladaptive brain parts that make up a person’s symptoms or the symptoms will only be relieved in the short term, such as with medication, substances, etc. This includes a thorough Family of Origin intake, a good understanding of what the patient has experienced and how healthy their brain is currently. Stephen is on a quest to help patients heal fully to allow them to thrive, not just survive. At GPS, we are committed to helping the patient from a whole brain-body perspective in a comfortable safe, and welcoming environment. |
